Newcastle United were excellent last season and they secured a Champions League spot. The new Saudi owners have invested big money and their success was expected. Edie Howe has excellent players and most of them remained, while Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes are new names. The Magpies are favorites, but I think Aston Villa could remain unbeaten. Emery's men were unbeaten in the pre-season, while also finished successfully in the last three rounds of the Premier League. The opponents were not naive - Liverpool, Tottenham and Brighton.

About the team news, Newcastle will be without Emil Krafth, Javi Manquillo and Joe Willock due to injury, while Alex Moreno, Emi Buendia and Jacob Ramsey are out for Aston Villa.

In 2023, only Manchester City have picked up more league points than Aston Villa (43), demonstrating the form under Emery. Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres and club-record signing Moussa Diaby are the new names and I think they are stronger now. Aston Villa could remain unbeaten.
