K2 - Football - South Korea - K League 2
Chungnam Asan FC, previously a police team was converted four years ago to a civlian side. It has been playing in the K League 2 since, after a difficult transition they appear to be improving with each year but have not reached promotion positions.
The team saw their talent leave and brought replacements looking to keep improving. The youth side has promisiong players that have been loaned out from their parent club, it is yet to see if they are up to the task and this game against a team call up to be a promotion contender serves this purpose.
The relocated military side from Sangu to Gimcheon, therefore administrative relegated, stormed K League 2 in 2021 and return to the top flight, but were unable to deliver and are back in K League 2, after losing the promotion-relegation final against Daejeon Citizens. This saw long time coach Kim Tae-wan part ways and a newcomer will face this peculiar challenge, meanwhile Sung Han-soo has stepped as caretaker.
Despite being constraint to select from the players applying for their mandatory military service, 20 months for professional players, the squad is made up of some of South Korea's finest talent. The job of the coach is to make them perform at the highest level.
In the previous four games between them with Chungnam Asan as the home side, the military side has come victorious in all of them. Even more in 13 matches between them since 2013, Sangmu has 10 victories, one tie and 1 defeat.
An interesting opener game for both teams, it is yet to see their performance, but at least considering precedents between them and the talent pool both posses, the military side Gimcheon Sangmu hols the edge here and should get something here.
