Atletico San Luis

Despite finishing last season with three wins in four matches, Atletico San Luis was once again unable to get into playoffs. Since joining the league in 2019, Atletico San Luis has not been able to participate in them, and has ended in the last place twice.

Is to be recognized that Atletico San Luis have improved and last two season has been closer to playoff spots than the last place. The arrival of Spanish Beatriz Parra has been instrumental in that improvement.

Started this season against a squad that played in playoffs and carry a 2-0 defeat against Santos Laguna, key player Parra was absence, yet she was present when they lost 0-2 last season against Santos Laguna, during their strong finishing.

Leon

Looking to return to playoffs after some seasons without them, Leon brought a trio of Argentineans, defender Linda Ruth Bravo, midfielder Romina Nunez and striker Marina Larroquete. This delivered a clear improvement from the previous season, yet no playoff spot.   Last season the team had the highlight of winning 2-0 against Tigres UANL, a powerhouse of Liga MX.

Began the season with a 2-0 win against Necaxa, goals from Linda Bravo and Daniela Calderon. Now the team hits the road looking to continue their good start against a level rival as Atletico San Luis.

Match

A close encounter is expected. In three games between  them at Alfonso Lastras, two of them have ended with one goal difference, a win for each side. The last one was 4-0 defeat, which Leon would like to avenge. And more when, regardless of venue, Leon have three games without winning against Atletico San Luis

Prediction

Atletico San Luis has improved their level to participant, still not playoff contender, mainly because their weak defense against stronger opposition and low scoring production. Leon has also improve and their squad seems to have more upside. The key aspect here would be midfield control, Leon should get the best scoring chances, therefore has the edge here. But it will not be a simple affair between two level defences.
