CC - Football - Scotland - League Challenge Cup
Crazy odds for hosts, they have a chance to end second in group, this could be not sufficient with direct clash among Aberdeen ( already qualified and winner of group) and Raith Rovers on Sunday, with Raith only team with strong motivation.
More, also with a qualification as second on group, nothing guarantee them to be among the best second teams in all groups and pass to next round
But Raith failed to win against weak Dumbarton in last round and will be a shame for Stirling not win against a poor and depleted last on table Peterhead.
Till now hosts loose ( and trashed 5-0) only by Aberdeen, and for this round trainer says that also with a couple of players in to gain match minutes, they'll do their best to try to end second in group and take a revenge on the humiliation suffered by Aberdeen.
Situation for Peterhead is harder then usual. Guests started the season with only 18 first teamers and one young keeper arrived on loan just few days before first match.
Now their available list of players is further reduced with striker McLeod in doubt for illness, skipper Paul Dixon ( def. newcomer from Falkirk), Ryan Dow ( midf. newcomer from Dunfermilne) and Andrew McDonald ( def. one of the few strong starters of alst season remained in team) all suspended, Ryan Strachan ( def. newcomer), Andy McCarthy ( mdif. usual starter last season), last season topscorers Hamish Ritchie ( 6g anoterh second scorer is gone) and Russell McLean ( 12g) that remain all out.
It is to note that all suspended players were usual staretrs in their old clubs and played all three cup matches till now.
To fill the holes will start for Peterhead two new but ex players of the team, Redman and Simson, both arrived free and specially the first that didn't play for a while.
Among other things, peterhead is waiting for first goal of season, yet.
