San Antonio FC
The preseason delivered three defeats, some against direct rivals, 0-7 against El Paso Locomotive, which brought doubts to the team's reach and potential.
Yet San Antonio is thriving with three consecutive wins. Started with a 1-0 win against newcomer Detroit City FC, and two consecutive away wins 1-2 against LA Galaxy II and Rio Grande Valley FC, both times San Antonio get ahead on the score but allowed the opposition to tie and San Antonio FC scored back to get with the win. Now returns back to Toyoya Field looking to continue is good moment of fair defending and continue scoring.
Phoenix Rising FC
After a 4-2 season opener win against newcomer Monterey Bay, Phoenix Rising FC lost the following two matches. Both times Phoenix Rising FC has been behind by two goals, against Las Vegas Lights FC scored once to shorten the distance, meanwhile against San Diego Loyal were able to tie the score in the second half, but San Diego Loyal scored again to claim the win.
Phoenix Rising FC has a diversify attack, seven different players have score one goal, the issue is their defense that has allowed an average over 2 goals per match. That being the situation they have to work on defense, as if it persists wins will be hard to come by. Last season's Phoenix Rising's top scorer Spanish Santiago Moar is yet to score after three matches.
Match
Have not play between them since the pandemic and in the previous five matches at Toyota Field San Antonio FC remains unbeaten against Phoenix Rising FC, three wins and two draws. Four of them have seen both teams score at least a goal, and three of those have ended with 5 goals or more. Thus, a match with a tendency of goals, that the low odds reflect this.
Prediction
After a two years pause this encounter is resumed, in what is expected to be an exchange of goals San Antonio holds the edge due to showing a better defense that Phoenix Rising FC. Both teams have the offensive power to score, yet San Antonio has shown a better consistency meanwhile Phoenix Rising has been all over the squad and neither player has repeated. Consequently San Antonio should continue getting points here.
