After five consecutive defeats Scunthorpe gained the second win of the season, but that happened against a relegation contender, Oldham, fifth from bottom.

Returned after many months injuried, last season topscorer Van Veen scored one of the two goals, maybe he could not play the whole match this time, after so long time out and at second match in the space of three days.

Anyway, guests meet a better level opponent this time and key midf. Spence (8) and Eisa ( att. 4+3) are doubtful after knocks in last match, while midf. Hornshaw (7), Vincent ( 5+1), Jarvis ( att. 4+1) and McGahey ( def. 2) remain all out.

Vale is in run to gain promotion playoff place, after three consecutive wins hosts were defeated by modest tranmere in last round, but with a 2-1 advantage they suffered a ban, then Tranmere scored by penalty, Vale was able to return in advantage and defeated only cause two goals suffered in injury time.

So, a bit unlucky there, also probably a bit tired hosts - without banned Joyce ( midf. 10) and quarantined Mills ( def. 3+1) - should be able to win against a team that remain without key players, has otehr ones doubtful and won only against a team of same poor level.
