K2 - Football - South Korea - K League 2
Game between second third place Daejeon Citizens and second placed Suwon FC to take place at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium regarding the 23rd round of the K2 League. Only five games remaining and nothing is decided, but that time is coming fast.
Both teams are divided by 12 points with 15 points to play, therefore they are competing for different things. Suwon FC is two points away from first placed Jeju United in battle for the direct promotion to K League 1, in any case almost secured participation in promotion playoff. Meanwhile, Daejeon Citizens is currently in promotion playoff position together with Seoul E-Land, yet only three points of advantage from two teams, Gyeongnam FC and Jeonnam Dragons, everything to play for.
Daejeon has struggle recently with only two victories in the most recent five games, and not because lack of trying as in four games they have scored, the problems is that their defense has leave them hanging in three games and allowed more goals than what the attack scored. Striker Andre Luis is doing his part despite the absence of Bruno Baio, but if he does not receive support from the defense, they might no take part in the promotion playoff. Oddly enough the team performs better at away, therefore playing at home against this rival is a difficult ask to return to victory.
Suwon FC stretch their unbeaten streak to eight games without defeat. Suwon FC is the best away side of K League 2, in 11 games, have nine victories, zero ties and two defeats, with stellar defending only allowing seven goals in those 11 games. The best away attack increase their tally to 27 goals in 11 games for an average 2. 45 goals per game. North Korean Byong-Jun An with 17 goals in 20 games, get back in the scoresheet in the last game, together with the second best of the team Masatoshi Ishida scored twice to get his tally to 10 goals in 21 games.
In the most recent five games between then at Daejeon World Cup Stadium, there has been four victories for Suwon FC and one for Daejeon back in 2018. In three of those games only one team has scored, but in the most recent two games both teams get in the scoresheet.
The result of this game is important for both teams, therefore, expect both teams to put everything on the line. Clearly the best position team for this is Suwon FC and should take advantage of being the stronger team, yet Daejeon has manage to score in the recent games and considering the precedent here, there should be at least a goal from each team.
